Cynthia Viskocil has always had a love for veterinary medicine but took a circuitous route to earn her DVM. After graduating early from Avon Lake High School, she spent a year in France as a foreign exchange student. Upon returning home, she attended Kent State, earning a degree in advertising and marketing.
The pivotal force of change for her was participating in the hospice care of her 50 year old father. Fueled by grief compounded by an intense understanding of the brevity of life, she decided it’s now or never and enrolled in science prerequisites at Wright State. She ultimately graduated with her DVM from OSU in 2002.
After her OSU Graduation, the US Air Force transferred Cynthia’s husband Jay, and family to WA state and then eventually to Aviano, Italy for 4 years. To be closer to family, the Viskocils returned to Ohio and eventually purchased Bretton Ridge Animal Clinic. Surrounded by a staff she considers family, working in a community she loves, owning and operating an animal clinic has been the most joyful love in her career.
Cynthia now lives just outside the funky town of Oberlin with her husband, two teen girls, and a mischievous (yet super adorable) Pomeranian.
