Dr. Aona is an Ohio native and went to Ohio State for both veterinary school and his undergraduate studies. After graduating veterinary school, he completed a rotating internship at Tufts University followed by a cardiology residency at NC State University. He finished the residency in 2018 and has been at MedVet since that time. He has thoroughly enjoyed his time at MedVet working not only as a clinician but teaching cardiology residents at MedVet and working closely with referral partners. While all aspects of veterinary cardiology are interesting to him, he takes a particular interest in congenital cardiac defects and interventional radiology. He has a wonderful wife who is a veterinarian in general practice along with two amazing little girls. To add to his already full house, he has a chihuahua, border collie, and an orange cat who likes to keep them busy.
